Broers and his wife, Janet of Wellsville; son Lloyd (Butch) Broers and his wife Linda of Edgerton; 4 grandchildren, Sharilyn (Broers) Cromer and her husband Bruce, Andrea (Broers) Melanson and her husband Dennis, Allan Broers and Evan Broers and his wife Patty; seven great-grandchildren, Amanda and Scott Cromer, Ryan and Andrew Melanson, Stephanie Lillie, Karley Broers and Jacob Broers; and many nieces and nephews.

Oleita Mae (Todd) Broers, age 96 of Wellsville, KS passed away Monday, December 6, 2010 at the Wellsville Retirement Community.  Funeral services will be 1:30PM, Thursday, December 9, 2010 at Wilson’s Funeral Home in Wellsville.  Visitation will be 6-8PM, Wednesday evening, also at the funeral home.  Interment will follow services in the Wellsville Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Rock Creek Community Club, the Wellsville United Methodist Church, or to Kansas City Hospice in care of Wilson’s, PO Box 486, Wellsville, KS  66092.

Oleita Mae (Todd) Broers was born December 9, 1913 in Miami County, Kansas, the daughter of Francis Alton and Minne Lee (Shelton) Todd.  She attended and graduated from Rock Creek School in Miami County, then attended Wellsville High School, graduating in 1933.  She married Otis L. Broers on August 13, 1933.  He preceded her in death on December 1, 1982.  They farmed in Miami County east of Wellsville for over 45 years.  After his passing, Mae moved to Wellsville in 1982.

Mae was an active partner in the farm and dairy business as well as being a homemaker.  She was active in her community and belonged to the Rock Creek Community Club, Fit and Fun Club of Wellsville, and the Wellsville United Methodist Church.  During her lifetime, she volunteered at many community and church events. Mae was creative as well, and was an accomplished seamstress, making clothing and quilts for her family and grandchildren. 

Mae is survived by her son Harley A. Broers and his wife, Janet of Wellsville; son Lloyd (Butch) Broers and his wife Linda of Edgerton; 4 grandchildren, Sharilyn (Broers) Cromer and her husband Bruce, Andrea  (Broers) Melanson and her husband Dennis, Allan Broers and Evan Broers and his wife Patty; seven great-grandchildren, Amanda and Scott Cromer, Ryan and Andrew Melanson, Stephanie Lillie, Karley Broers and Jacob Broers; and many nieces and nephews.   She is preceded in death by  her parents, husband and 3 sisters, Francis Blake, Bea O’ Connor and Leota Petterson.
